OTIF (On Time In Full)

What is OTIF (On Time In Full)?

OTIF stands for On Time In Full and is one of the most important metrics for evaluating delivery performance. It measures whether a shipment arrives at the recipient’s location complete and on time—that is, in the agreed-upon quantity and at the promised time.

Especially in complex supply chains, OTIF is a key indicator of the reliability of logistics processes. The metric combines two crucial quality dimensions: time and completeness. A delivery that arrives on time but is incomplete in terms of quantity fails to meet OTIF standards just as much as a complete shipment that arrives late.

For companies, OTIF is therefore more than just a service metric. Deviations often point to weaknesses in planning, inventory management, transport control, order picking, or supplier performance. A high OTIF rate, on the other hand, indicates stable processes, good coordination along the supply chain, and robust operational control.

In controlling and supply chain management, OTIF is frequently used to evaluate suppliers, locations, transport concepts, or distribution processes in a comparable manner. In this way, the metric helps make service quality measurable and identify targeted improvement measures.
